03 / TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

Technical requirements

We have kept the complete technical profile below. B&R and its industrial communication technologies are central to this position.

01

🔴 1. CORE TECHNICAL SKILLS – B&R (Mandatory Requirement)

This is the core of the position: B&R is the platform on which the majority of the work will be carried out.

MANDATORY
  • Excellent proficiency in B&R Automation Studio and its entire ecosystem.
  • Automation Runtime: Task classes, cycle times, memory management, and diagnostics.
  • mapp Technology: Experience with mapp components (mapp Motion, mapp AlarmX, mapp Recipe, etc.).
  • Motion control with ACOPOS drives: Electronic camming, electronic gearing, axis synchronization, and axis interpolation.
  • Web-based HMI development using mappView: Complete design and development of operator interfaces, including layouts, widgets, navigation, alarms, recipes, trends, user management, and multilingual functionality, as well as connecting interface elements to variables through OPC UA binding. Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript for customization and the development of custom widgets is considered an advantage, as is familiarity with Visual Components for maintaining existing machines.
  • Communication and hardware: POWERLINK networks, X20 modules, and OPC UA communication.
  • Programming languages: IEC 61131-3 languages, particularly Structured Text. Knowledge of C/C++ programming within the B&R environment is considered an advantage.
  • Professional experience: At least 3–5 years of hands-on experience working on real-world projects using B&R automation systems.
02🟠 2. REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS – Rockwell AutomationAdditional platform expertise

A significant proportion of our customers use Rockwell Automation systems, so the ability to work independently and confidently with this platform is also required.

  • Good working knowledge of Studio 5000 Logix Designer, specifically with ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers.
  • Experience managing tags, User-Defined Data Types (UDTs), Add-On Instructions (AOIs), and task structures (continuous, periodic, and event-triggered tasks).
  • Programming experience in Ladder Logic and Structured Text.
  • Knowledge of EtherNet/IP networks and integration of third-party devices.
  • Familiarity with FactoryTalk View and Kinetix/PowerFlex drives is considered an advantage.
03🟢 3. DESIRABLE TECHNICAL SKILLS – Siemens (Not Mandatory)Valuable additional experience

These skills are not essential for the position but would be considered an added advantage.

  • Experience with TIA Portal, particularly with S7-1200 and S7-1500 PLCs, SCL programming language, and WinCC HMI systems.
  • Knowledge of PROFINET networks.
  • Experience working with mixed automation systems that incorporate PLCs from different manufacturers.
✦

Not every box ticked? Apply anyway.

If you miss one of these qualifications, don't be discouraged from applying. Strong knowledge of B&R Automation Studio and the required B&R communication systems — including POWERLINK, X20 and OPC UA — is essential. Other skills can be learned and developed.

For example: If you fully meet the B&R requirements but don't know Rockwell or Siemens, you can still be a strong candidate for AETHERION.
